Hello everyone, I’m Beth, the creative force behind Beth’s Journal Boutique, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to serve as a member of The Graphics Fairy Design Team for Fall 2019/2020. My journey into the wonderful world of junk journaling began over five years ago, cultivating a deep passion for crafting unique, story-filled books. My preferred aesthetic often leans towards a vintage shabby style, characterized by delicate textures, soft hues, and a nostalgic charm that evokes simpler times. However, I occasionally love to explore a more playful, fun retro design, keeping my creative spirit versatile and fresh.

Each of my journals is a labor of love, meticulously designed with many intricate details and thoughtful layers that invite exploration. Despite the rich embellishments, I always ensure there’s ample space left for memory keeping, personal journaling, and the inclusion of your own precious mementos. This balance between elaborate design and functional space is key to creating a truly personal and cherished keepsake.

Crafting the Cover: The Foundation of a Vintage Keepsake

My vision for this particular journal was to create something that genuinely looked and felt like an authentic old book, brimming with history and forgotten stories. To achieve this, I began by crafting a sturdy chipboard cover, providing a robust foundation. The magic truly began when I applied a beautifully aged book cover image sourced from The Graphics Fairy’s exquisite Bohemian bundle. This instantly imparted the antique character I was seeking. To complete the look, the journal’s closure is elegantly simple, fashioned from delicate seam binding and a touch of lace, adding to its soft, vintage appeal and ensuring its contents are held with care.
