Meet Terri Kolte: The Gypsy Magpie and Our New Design Team Star

Hello everyone! I’m Terri, widely known in the creative community as The Gypsy Magpie. My passion lies in the enchanting realm of vintage aesthetics, a deep appreciation for all kinds of rich textures and intricate layers, and, of course, anything that adds a touch of sparkle. My creative process is often characterized by the meticulous art of fussy cutting, where I use ten-inch dressmaker shears to precisely snip even the tiniest elements from an image. You’ll rarely find my hands without the tell-tale smudges of paint or ink – a proud testament to my latest collage adventure. But perhaps the biggest news, and one that still makes me pinch myself with excitement, is my recent induction as a new member of The Graphics Fairy design team!

My philosophy is simple: the more “real estate” I have available, the more opportunities there are to attach beautiful images, exquisite papers, delicate trims, and other charming embellishments. This adaptive approach not only keeps the creative process exciting but also ensures that the finished journal is filled with unexpected delights and interactive elements, inviting the viewer to explore every nook and cranny. Each added pocket becomes a home for a secret note or a tiny piece of ephemera, and every flip page reveals a new visual surprise, making the journal a journey of discovery.

If I can also slip in a few thoughtfully typed quotes, perhaps a favorite saying or an inspiring passage, then I’m a very happy crafter. These textual elements add depth and personal meaning to the visual narrative, transforming the journal into a source of reflection and encouragement.
