My husband, Robert, finds this endlessly amusing, though I suspect a hint of exasperation might occasionally creep into his laughter. I’ll spot a piece that’s simply “too good to pass up,” convince myself it’s destined for a dazzling makeover “tomorrow,” and then, inevitably, life happens. However, with a significant move on the horizon, the time has come to confront all those lingering projects and reclaim our space. Among the items demanding attention was a forgotten coffee table, originally intended for our playroom. It had been patiently waiting its turn, and with our packing frenzy underway, it was finally its moment to shine.

Thinking back to November, when we were fully immersed in our exciting playroom makeover, I made a last-minute decision. Despite having a perfectly good, thrifted coffee table ready and waiting, I concluded it simply wasn’t necessary for the space. Our playroom already featured a small play table and convenient built-in desks, providing more than enough surface area for creative endeavors and focused activities. My primary goal for Olivia’s playroom was to maximize open floor space, allowing her the freedom to run, sprawl, and engage in imaginative play without obstructions. It was only after I’d already hauled this promising piece into our garage that the realization struck: a coffee table would hinder, rather than enhance, the open-concept play area I envisioned. So, the idea of incorporating it into the playroom was completely nixed.

I knew I had to do something with it, if only to prevent it from moving with us as another unfinished project.
