Following my recent life update, it became clear many of you had pressing questions about our latest chapter. Queries like, “Why did you sell the house you just finished?” and “Where are you moving?” to “When can we see photos of the new place?” and “What’s the timeline for moving in?” flooded my inbox and comments. I understand the cliffhangers! While we’re still deeply immersed in the moving process, and some details must remain private for now, I always strive for transparency and to share an authentic glimpse into our lives with you. So, here’s an update on where we stand and a much-anticipated introduction to our new adventure.
Before delving into all the specific answers and exciting plans, allow me to formally introduce you to the newest member of our family – our charming, new-to-us brick Colonial home. It’s a significant change, a new canvas, and already feels like the perfect fit for the next phase of our family’s journey. This house represents a fresh start and a thrilling new design challenge.

Isn’t it absolutely enchanting? Just the other day, during one of the final inspection visits, I managed to capture a few quick shots of its beautiful exterior. I know you’re all eager for an interior tour, but the current owners are still in the process of moving out, so those reveals will have to wait until after we officially close. Rest assured, as soon as we get the keys, you’ll be among the first to see every nook and cranny inside this beautiful abode. Until then, these exterior photos offer a delightful preview of the character and potential that lies within our next home renovation project.

Now, let’s address some of those lingering questions you’ve all been asking.
Why Did You Sell Your Previous Home?
For those who might have missed the detailed explanation in a previous post, the decision to sell our former house, which we had poured so much love and effort into, wasn’t made lightly. While we adored our last home, our evolving family needs and long-term aspirations led us to seek something different. Our primary desires included a larger, more established yard, abundant mature trees, and a neighborhood with a more settled, historical feel. Crucially, we also wanted to be closer to both my and Robert’s parents, making family gatherings and support much more accessible. This new Colonial home perfectly fulfills all those requirements and offers so much more. Furthermore, after three years of hands-on experience renovating our previous house, we felt ready for a new challenge. We’ve learned invaluable skills and insights, and the prospect of applying them to an older home, with its inherent character and unique quirks, felt like a natural progression. It’s as if we’re taking off our training wheels and embarking on a more ambitious and exciting home transformation journey.

Where Exactly Are You Moving To?
This has been, without a doubt, one of the most frequently asked questions, and I truly wish I could share every specific detail. However, for the sake of our family’s privacy and security, we’ve made the conscious decision to keep certain details about our new location confidential. While I understand the curiosity, protecting our private life is paramount, especially when sharing so much online. Therefore, I won’t be going into specifics about the name of our neighborhood or any precise geographical markers. I mean, if I did, we might have unexpected visitors showing up for a dip in our pool! Kidding, of course, but yes, we DO have a pool! How amazing is that?! While we’re not revealing the exact address, I can confirm that we are staying within the same general area – specifically, in the lovely South Carolina suburbs just outside Charlotte. This location keeps us close to our established community, amenities, and, most importantly, our beloved family, ensuring a smooth transition for everyone involved.

When Will You Be Closing on the House?
The official signing on the dotted line is scheduled for mid-April, which means there’s still a bit of a wait before we can fully settle in and begin our next exciting home transformation projects. The anticipation is certainly building! In the meantime, Robert and I are keeping incredibly busy. We’re currently wrapping up the beautiful guest bedroom makeover at my parents’ house, a project I’m excited to photograph and share with you all this week. Simultaneously, amidst all the packing and moving preparations, we’re also jetting off for the much-anticipated Lowe’s makeover project, which I’ll be sharing more details about very soon. As you can imagine, our days are packed, but we thrive on these creative challenges and the constant buzz of activity. The wait for our new Colonial home only makes the prospect of moving in and starting its renovation even more thrilling.

More Details About Our New Brick Colonial Home
Let’s dive into what makes this house so special. Built in 1960, our new home carries the timeless charm and solid construction typical of mid-century architecture. While it has some age, which we absolutely adore, we’re incredibly fortunate that it has been thoughtfully updated over the years by previous owners. This means we’re not facing a daunting, overwhelming fixer-upper project from day one, allowing us to focus on more cosmetic and personalized updates rather than major structural overhauls. The layout itself is fantastic for our family: it boasts four spacious bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a dedicated playroom for Olivia, which is a dream come true for her. For Robert and me, the house offers practical spaces that cater to our creative passions – a large garage perfectly suited to handle our continuous furniture makeovers and various home improvement projects, and a comfortable office space for my work. Robert is also already envisioning incredible possibilities for the outdoor shed, potentially transforming it into a cool workshop or a unique personal retreat. Beyond these practicalities, the house exudes a wonderful, inherent character that speaks to its history and solidifies its appeal as our long-term family home.

One of the most captivating features is undoubtedly the yard. It’s incredibly charming, filled with a delightful array of vibrant flowers and mature trees that offer natural beauty and shade. There’s even a sweet little swing, perfect for quiet moments or Olivia’s playtime. And then, there’s the jewel of the exterior: a spacious, inviting covered back porch. I can already picture countless evenings spent out there, sipping sweet tea, enjoying family meals, and creating lasting memories. This outdoor haven promises to be an extension of our living space, offering a peaceful retreat and an ideal spot for entertaining in the milder South Carolina weather.

I’m overflowing with design ideas for this house, but my approach this time will be subtly different from our last project. While our previous home saw a dramatic transformation from builder-grade to a charming farmhouse aesthetic, with this Colonial, my goal is to embrace its inherent beauty and character rather than completely overhaul its established style. I want to highlight and enhance what’s already there – the classic lines, the timeless brick, and the traditional elements that make it unique. Of course, there will still be plenty of change and personalization, infusing our family’s style and modern comforts, but it will be done with a deep respect for the home’s original essence. Think of it as a thoughtful evolution, blending classic elegance with fresh, functional design. Our vision is to create a comfortable, stylish, and welcoming space that truly feels like home, honoring its past while celebrating its future with us.

For now, this is all the information I can share with you regarding our exciting move and our new brick Colonial home. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received from all of you, whether through emails, comments on the blog, or interactions on social media. Your encouragement truly means the world to us as we navigate this significant transition. Every day, I am amazed by the countless opportunities and blessings God has provided for Robert and me. We can’t even begin to imagine what incredible plans He has in store for us next, but we face the future with immense excitement and unwavering faith. We know it will be an amazing adventure, and we’re thrilled to have you all along for the journey. Thank you for being such an integral part of our story.
