And for those who haven’t yet had the chance to admire her stunning home, I highly recommend popping over there first for some incredible inspiration, and then returning here to continue your tour. You won’t regret it!
From Blank Canvas to Autumn Sanctuary: Our Home’s Transformation
You might recall the “Before Tour” of our home HERE, which showcased the space as it was before we officially moved in. It was truly a blank canvas then, offering endless possibilities for design and decoration. The contrast between then and now is quite remarkable, and I’m excited to show you how we’ve brought warmth and personality into every corner, especially for the Fall season.
A Sophisticated Retreat: The Formal Living Room
It’s so much better now, isn’t it? With a fresh coat of paint, our beloved furniture, and cherished accessories thoughtfully arranged, this space has truly come alive. This is our formal living room, and for the walls, I chose the same elegant charcoal gray that graced our previous home. It’s a color I continue to adore, and it harmonizes beautifully with our existing furnishings, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere that feels just right for autumn.
Many of you have often inquired about the perfect spot for the horse picture that holds such a special place in my heart, and in yours too, it seems! I’m thrilled to report that I found the ideal location for it on the back wall of our formal living room. To complement its rustic charm, I moved this beautiful zinc-top table upstairs from my craft room. Its industrial-chic aesthetic pairs perfectly, offering a sturdy yet stylish base. On its lower ledge, I arranged an exquisite antique European grape harvest basket and a collection of vintage metal olive buckets, infusing the space with old-world character. To complete the look and add a touch of natural elegance, I filled the buckets with delicate dried cotton branches, bringing a lovely texture and soft, organic feel that whispers of autumn.
Our coffee table continues the theme of natural textures and DIY charm. More of those lovely dried cotton branches are casually arranged, bringing a soft, organic element indoors. Beside them, proudly sits the book page pumpkin that I crafted last year. It’s a favorite piece, and for those curious about how to create your own, you can find the detailed tutorial HERE. It’s a wonderful project that adds a unique, literary touch to your fall decor.
If you’re one of my lovely followers on Instagram, you might have already caught a glimpse of these exquisite wild turkey feathers. I personally gathered them during my summer visit to my parent’s home in Northern California. Their rich, earthy tones are absolutely perfect for fall, adding a unique, natural, and slightly wild touch to our seasonal decor. They truly encapsulate the spirit of autumn’s bounty.
From the living room, your gaze naturally drifts into the inviting foyer, setting the stage for the rest of our home’s autumn charm.
A Warm Welcome: The Foyer
In the foyer, I opted for a beautifully simple approach, allowing the natural warmth of autumn to shine through without clutter. The copper metal accessories are a key element here; their rich, burnished tones perfectly capture the essence of the season, adding a touch of rustic elegance. To further enhance the welcoming atmosphere and introduce more tactile interest, a burlap runner gracefully drapes across the surface, providing an additional layer of texture that grounds the space and invites guests further inside.
Golden Hues and Family Heirlooms: The Dining Room
Welcome to our dining room, a space designed for both everyday meals and special gatherings. You’ll notice the walls are painted in the same elegant charcoal gray as the living room. Yes, I truly am captivated by this color! It creates a consistent, sophisticated backdrop throughout our main living areas, allowing our chosen decor to truly pop. In this room, my grandparents’ antique gold pier mirror served as the foundational inspiration. Its timeless beauty and sentimental value set a luxurious tone, and from there, I sought out other gold accessories to complement its grandeur. I’ve cherished those old gold Florentine trays for quite some time, and it was a joyful decision to finally hang them on the wall. I absolutely adore the way they catch the light and add an antique, artistic flair to the space.
You might spot the brass chandelier, still diligently hanging overhead. While it’s certainly doing its job for now, I confess it’s on my mental list for a future upgrade! As soon as I pinpoint the perfect replacement to truly elevate the room’s aesthetic, it will be making its exit. In the interim, I’ve added a few subtle faux berries, a small touch to try and camouflage it just a bit and integrate it more harmoniously with our fall decor.
The dining table itself was adorned with a captivating blend of textures and colors, designed to evoke a sense of autumn elegance. We used beautiful gold and burlap placemats, which instantly add a rustic yet refined foundation to each place setting. These were paired with old-world inspired gold chargers, creating a luxurious and welcoming feel. The combination beautifully captures the richness of the season and elevates any meal into a special occasion.
A significant change in this room involved completely reimagining the contents of my china cabinet. The lovely green pieces that once resided on the top shelves have now found a new home below, creating a fresh arrangement. In their place, I proudly displayed the ironstone collection that used to be a staple in our old kitchen. It’s truly wonderful how a move can inspire such creative reevaluation and rearrangement, giving cherished items new life and prominence in different spaces. There’s nothing quite like it to make you rethink where everything belongs!
Amidst the elegant settings, I found this adorable little gold-studded pumpkin at TJ Maxx. It’s such a charming and subtle nod to the season, adding a touch of playful sparkle to the dining room decor.
Here, you can get a better glimpse inside the china cabinet, appreciating the details of the revamped display.
The two charming paper pieces nestled inside the glass cloches are special printables from my very own blog. You can easily find the beautiful Fall Oak Leaves Printable HERE, offering a touch of vintage botanical elegance. And for another autumnal touch, the lovely Maple Postcard printable is available HERE. These DIY elements add a personalized and unique flair to our seasonal display, connecting our decor directly to the creative resources I love sharing.
Comfort and Style: The Family Room
Stepping deeper into our home, this inviting vista leads you directly into the heart of our family life: the spacious and comfortable family room. This area is where we truly unwind and gather, and I’ve taken special care to ensure it radiates warmth and autumn charm.
This family room is considerably more spacious than our previous one, allowing us to comfortably accommodate a large sectional sofa—a perfect choice for cozy family movie nights and casual lounging. We opted for a sectional with a delightful nubby, linen-like texture in a versatile, neutral shade, providing both comfort and understated elegance. Front and center, you may recognize the striking metal clock that I acquired from my friend Amy at Lucketts Store a few years ago. It’s a timeless piece that I continue to love, serving as both a functional item and a captivating focal point in the room.
Another beloved book page pumpkin, a testament to thoughtful DIY decor, finds its home here, resting gracefully on the expansive tree slice that I procured from my friend Candice at Chartreuse and Co. This tree slice is, without a doubt, one of the most versatile accessories I own. It effortlessly migrates to different rooms throughout the house and adapts beautifully to every season, always adding a touch of rustic, natural charm wherever it lands. Its organic presence brings a subtle connection to the outdoors, perfectly fitting our autumn theme.
To infuse a pop of warm, inviting color into the neutral palette of the family room, I added a selection of vibrant yellow pillows and a matching throw, all wonderful finds from Homegoods. These splashes of sunshine instantly brighten the space, creating an even cozier and more welcoming ambiance that feels perfect for snuggling up on a crisp autumn evening. They beautifully complement the earthy tones and natural textures present throughout the room.
These striking copper-colored bottles are another cherished acquisition from Chartreuse and Co. Their metallic sheen and rich, warm tones add a touch of sophisticated shimmer and depth, perfectly harmonizing with the autumn palette we’ve embraced throughout our home. They’re subtle yet impactful details that enhance the room’s overall aesthetic.
Heart of the Home: Our Charming Kitchen
Moving into the heart of our home, the kitchen now boasts a lovely light tan paint color. I’m genuinely thrilled with how it turned out! This warm, neutral shade creates a bright and airy atmosphere, providing a perfect backdrop for our fall-inspired accents while maintaining a timeless and inviting feel. It’s a space where functionality meets aesthetic appeal, especially with our seasonal touches.
These delightful little velvet pumpkins are an absolute treasure, all discovered at TJ Maxx. Last year, I was only fortunate enough to find two, which I cherished. However, this year, their selection was much larger and more diverse, so I excitedly added a couple more to my collection! Their soft texture and rich, jewel-toned colors bring a luxurious yet cozy touch of autumn to our kitchen countertops, making them a personal favorite for seasonal decorating.
For our kitchen table setting, I opted for a blend of natural textures and warm tones. The rattan placemats, which I found at Ikea, instantly bring an organic, earthy feel to the space. Paired with plates and napkins from Pier One, the table is set for a welcoming autumn meal. Interestingly, I recently spotted these exact napkins on my new favorite decorating show, “Fixer Upper,” and was absolutely delighted to stumble upon them by accident just a few days later! It felt like a little bit of design magic, tying into current trends with a personal touch.
