Elevating Everyday Luxury: Our Classic En Suite Bathroom Renovation Choices

There’s something inherently sophisticated about calling it an “en suite bathroom,” isn’t there? It just feels a touch more refined than any other term. Perhaps it’s the whisper of a “bath parlor” or a “salle de bain” – echoes from my three-year-old’s current obsession with Fancy Nancy, which has somehow infiltrated my design vocabulary. Regardless of the fancy nomenclature, our journey through this bathroom remodel is steadily progressing, and the recent installation of light fixtures and faucets has brought an undeniable wave of excitement.

The transformation is truly remarkable. These new fixtures blend seamlessly with our recently installed scalloped marble backsplash, creating a cohesive and stunning visual that’s almost too beautiful to believe. The interplay of textures and finishes is precisely what we envisioned, bringing our classic design plan to life with elegance and practicality.

Our En Suite Bathroom Remodel Journey: A Project Overview

This bathroom renovation has been a significant undertaking, filled with exciting design decisions and unexpected challenges. From the initial demolition to selecting the perfect finishing touches, every step has been thoughtfully considered to achieve our vision of a classic yet modern en suite retreat. Illuminating Style: Our En Suite Bathroom Light Fixtures

Lighting is often an overlooked element in bathroom design, yet it plays a pivotal role in both aesthetics and functionality. For our en suite, we specifically opted for sconce lights sourced from Amazon. These aren’t just any sconces; they are a fantastic designer dupe, offering the high-end look we desired without the prohibitive price tag. This choice perfectly aligns with our goal of creating a luxurious space through smart, budget-conscious decisions.

Soon, we’ll be hanging individual mirrors strategically placed between these elegant sconce lights. Our decision to install sconces on either side of the vanity mirror, rather than above, stems from years of personal experience. When it comes to applying makeup, lighting that hits your face from two lateral directions is vastly superior. Overhead lighting, while popular, tends to create unflattering shadows, making precise makeup application challenging. Sconces positioned at eye level, however, provide even, soft illumination that minimizes shadows, ensuring you always look your best, even before stepping out the door. This thoughtful placement not only enhances daily routines but also contributes to the overall classic and symmetrical design of the vanity area, creating a balanced and inviting glow.

Striking the Balance: Elegant Sink Faucets

The sink faucets are more than just functional components; they are critical design statements that tie the entire vanity area together. Our choice of modern Champagne Bronze wall-mount faucets is, quite simply, everything we hoped for. They exude sophistication and modernity, providing the perfect counterpoint to the more ornate details of our design.

Given the delicate, feminine detailing of our scalloped marble backsplash, we intentionally sought a faucet design that was sleek, clean, and minimalist. This deliberate juxtaposition creates visual interest and balance within the space. The boldness of the wall-mount style, combined with its refined silhouette, ensures that the faucets stand out without overpowering the intricate beauty of the marble. Opting for wall-mount faucets also offers practical advantages: they free up valuable counter space, making cleaning easier and contributing to a more streamlined, uncluttered look. It’s a design choice that marries form and function beautifully.

We’ve been loyal to Delta’s Champagne Bronze finish, having previously incorporated it into our powder room. This particular tone is a personal favorite because it strikes the perfect balance for a gold/brass finish. It’s subtly desaturated, meaning it possesses a rich warmth that enhances the ambiance without overwhelming the space with a bright, overtly yellow hue. This sophisticated finish adds a touch of timeless luxury, complementing both the classic elements and the modern touches throughout the en suite, ensuring a cohesive and elegant aesthetic that will endure for years to come.

Thoughtful Details: Our Vintage-Style Toilet and Wooden Seat

Capturing the true essence of this bathroom’s size and unique shape through photography has proven quite challenging, often requiring me to contort into tight corners just to get the shot. However, every detail, no matter how small, has been carefully selected to contribute to the overall classic and polished feel of the space. For the toilet, we once again opted for this fantastic self-cleaning model that we’ve grown to love and have successfully used in two previous projects. Its efficiency and hygiene benefits are unparalleled, making it a reliable and convenient choice for a busy household.

To further elevate its appearance and integrate it seamlessly into our classic design scheme, we added a beautiful wooden toilet seat. This choice instantly imbues a sense of warmth and a subtle vintage charm, transforming a utilitarian fixture into a piece that feels intentionally chosen for its aesthetic value. Complementing this, we installed a striking Champagne Bronze flush lever. It’s astonishing how these seemingly minor details can collectively make such a profound difference, elevating the entire look and feel of the “potty.” These small, thoughtful upgrades ensure that even the most functional aspects of the bathroom contribute to its overall polished and luxurious atmosphere, reflecting our commitment to design excellence in every corner.

The Shower Experience: Fixtures and Functionality

The shower area is poised to become a true sanctuary within our en suite, though its completion has been slightly delayed by the anticipated arrival of a custom glass shower door. Supply chain delays are an inevitable part of large renovation projects, but the wait will undoubtedly be worth it. We have some exciting small details planned for the shower, which, once installed, will truly elevate the space to another level of luxury and functionality. You’ll be seeing those very soon!

Despite the wait for the door, we are thrilled to confirm that our beautiful shower faucets are now fully installed. Continuing our consistent design theme, these fixtures also feature the exquisite Champagne Bronze finish, seamlessly tying the shower area into the broader aesthetic of the bathroom. The clean lines and robust feel of these faucets perfectly complement the classic modern style we’re cultivating.

A crucial addition to our shower setup is the slide bar and hand shower head. If there’s one thing that consistently frustrates me during bathroom cleaning, it’s attempting to scrub shower tiles without the flexibility and reach a hand shower provides. This practical feature not only makes cleaning significantly easier but also enhances the overall showering experience, offering customizable spray options and convenience for rinsing hard-to-reach areas. It’s these thoughtful combinations of luxury and practicality that define our approach to this en suite bathroom remodel, ensuring every element serves a purpose while contributing to the classic, sophisticated atmosphere.

Nearing the Finish Line: Anticipation and Final Touches

We are so close to the finish line, perhaps just two or three weeks away from calling this magnificent project complete! I’m crossing every finger and toe, hoping for a swift conclusion. The anticipation is especially high as we prepare to host 14 guests for Thanksgiving. With only one functional shower currently available in the house, the completion of this en suite couldn’t come at a better time – otherwise, things might get rather “interesting” for our holiday visitors! This personal challenge adds a humorous urgency to the final stages of our classic bathroom renovation.

Once our dedicated contractors have put the finishing touches on the last few details, Robert and I have an exciting list of projects to complete the space ourselves. This includes installing elegant molding to add architectural interest, integrating smart, small storage solutions to maximize functionality without compromising style, and carefully placing all the little decor touches that will truly make this en suite feel like a luxurious, personal retreat. Every chosen element, from the substantial fixtures to the smallest accessories, has been meticulously selected to create a cohesive classic modern bathroom that is both beautiful and highly functional. We are incredibly eager to reveal the final transformation and share the culmination of our efforts with you. So readyyyyy to enjoy this beautiful new space!
