As summer’s vibrant energy gracefully recedes, and the autumnal equinox ushers in cooler breezes and richer hues, October beckons with its promise of coziness and reflection. For me, the transition from one season to the next naturally inspires a corresponding shift in my journaling practice. Years of making journals have taught me the profound importance of aligning my creative tools with my immediate surroundings and my personal sensory experiences. While I cherish the bright, fresh aesthetics of spring and summer florals, I knew that to truly find inspiration, my journal needed to mirror the serene beauty of the autumn world.
This deep connection to the season led me on a mission to craft an autumn-inspired journal, specifically designed to capture the essence of October. I wanted a journal that would evoke feelings of warmth, comfort, and nostalgic charm, a perfect companion for crisp days and cozy evenings. This project became more than just a craft; it was a way to truly immerse myself in the spirit of fall, allowing its unique magic to permeate every page.

Among the many wonderful images I discovered, the letter “G” from the Rustic Garden Alphabet bundle truly stood out. To personalize it and ensure it perfectly matched the warm, earthy tones of my journal, I downloaded the .png file and made a subtle alteration in Photoshop, adding a rich brown overlay. This small adjustment made all the difference, harmonizing the letter with the overall vintage fall aesthetic. I then printed it on coffee-dyed paper, carefully trimmed it, and affixed it to a vintage quilt square positioned towards the middle of the journal. The result is a unique, personalized detail that anchors the journal’s theme. With its multitude of unique details, carefully curated vintage elements, and undeniable fall vibes, I am genuinely excited to begin filling the pages of this journal with my autumn reflections and creative expressions.
