An Enchanting All-White Nursery Reveal: Classic Comfort Meets Vintage Charm
The moment has finally arrived! After months of planning, dreaming, and diligent DIY efforts, our beautiful all-white nursery makeover is complete, and we are absolutely thrilled to share every detail with you. There’s an undeniable magic in creating a special space for a new arrival, and this room has become everything we envisioned and more. From classic furniture pieces to delicate floral accents and Anthropologie-inspired patterns, every element comes together to form a truly serene and timeless retreat.
For those who have followed our nursery makeover journey, you’ll remember the transformation has been significant. When we first moved into this home last year, this spare bedroom presented a blank canvas, full of potential but lacking character. It was a space waiting to be infused with warmth and purpose:

Our journey to this stunning reveal involved several key projects, each contributing to the overall charm and functionality of the room. If you’re interested in diving deeper into any specific DIY, you can find the detailed tutorials here:

Crafting a Calm Oasis: Our Vision for a Peaceful Nursery
Ever since we received the wonderful news that our baby bean was on the way and that we were expecting another little princess, my mind immediately spun into a delightful nursery decorating frenzy. However, with this second baby, I had one clear guiding principle: I wanted to steer clear of an overtly pink, “in-your-face” girl’s room. My memories of the delightful chaos, the sleepless nights, and the sheer exhaustion from our firstborn, Olivia (back when we lived above my parents’ garage!), taught me a valuable lesson.
This time, the goal was to create a sanctuary – a space that felt peaceful, soothing, and calming, not just for Baby Regan, but for us as parents too. The vision was an all-white backdrop, layered with subtle textures, classic pieces, and just a whisper of feminine charm. We aimed for a timeless aesthetic that would feel comforting and welcoming during those precious, yet often challenging, early months.

From Spare Room to Serene Sanctuary: The Renovation Details
Stepping into this room now, it’s almost unrecognizable from its former self. Due to my limited physical state during pregnancy – no fumes, heavy lifting, or power tools for me – we brought in a skilled contractor to refinish the beautiful hardwood floors that had been hidden under old carpet. The transformation of the floors alone made an incredible difference, laying a warm and classic foundation for the entire room.
Despite my restrictions, Robert was a superhero, taking on the intricate task of installing the picture frame molding himself. This architectural detail is, without a doubt, one of my favorite projects in the entire house. It adds such a refined, custom look to the walls, elevating the simple white paint into something truly elegant.

Illuminating the Space: Lighting and Architectural Details
It’s always a pleasant surprise when a design vision comes to life exactly as imagined, especially when my usual M.O. involves spontaneous thrift store finds altering the entire trajectory! But for this nursery, we really stuck to the initial plan. One of the very first elements I knew I wanted to change was the old, outdated ceiling fan. It was replaced with this stunning pendant light from Del Mar Fans & Lighting, which instantly transformed the room.

The pendant light perfectly embodies the feminine and glamorous yet modern-vintage vibe we were aiming for. Its intricate design allows the light to bounce beautifully around the room, creating a soft, inviting glow. It’s truly a focal point that captures attention without overwhelming the tranquil aesthetic.

Thoughtful Details: Doors, Walls, and Floors
The closet doors were another area crying out for attention. Before, the sliding closet doors were a constant source of frustration, perpetually falling off their tracks. Robert and I tackled this by replacing them entirely. I then painted the new doors using my tried-and-true method in Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray. This soft, neutral gray creates a subtle yet sophisticated contrast against the Magnolia Home True White walls, maintaining the calming ambiance while adding visual depth.

To introduce softness and help with noise reduction – because an echoing newborn cry at 2 AM is far from ideal – we anchored the room with this beautiful gray and white rug from eSaleRugs. It adds a plush, inviting layer over the newly refinished hardwood floors, making the room feel instantly cozier and more prepared for baby life.

Nursery Essentials: Crib | Glider | Floor Lamp | Felt Flower Swag | Rug | Light Fixture | Basket | Crib Skirt | Crib Sheet | Quilt
Curating Comfort and Style: Furniture Selection
The crib became a delightful “happy accident.” Initially, I envisioned a more budget-friendly white metal vintage-style crib, but it was out of stock and wouldn’t arrive until long after Regan’s due date. This led us to this fantastic convertible white metal crib. In hindsight, I’m thrilled with the change, as its convertibility means it will adapt as Regan grows, lasting well into her toddler years and offering excellent long-term value. For safety reasons, and to maintain a minimalist look, we opted against pillows and bumpers, focusing instead on simple, beautiful bedding.
I chose a sweet pale pink print crib sheet and a ruffled crib skirt, adding just a touch of soft color and texture. Here’s a little tip for new parents: layer 2-3 alternating waterproof mattress pads and crib sheets on the mattress. If there’s a messy accident in the middle of the night, you can simply rip off the top layer and not have to remake the entire bed while half-asleep and stressed. It’s a game-changer!

Delicate Details: Wall Decor and Ambient Lighting
To infuse the walls with subtle color and charming texture, I discovered this exquisite felt flower swag garland set. It’s truly one of my favorite elements in the room, adding a whimsical, Anthropologie-inspired touch. I briefly considered attempting a DIY version, but the intricate detail and sheer volume of flowers in this garland convinced me that professional craftsmanship was the way to go. Mine would have likely ended up as a lumpy mass of hot glue and fabric scraps!

For soft, diffused lighting during nighttime feedings and changes, I opted for this elegant floor lamp (it’s now sold out, but this one is a similar alternative). We’re also eagerly awaiting some special sleep light bulbs that some of you recommended – I’m incredibly curious to see if they live up to their promise of promoting better sleep. Fingers crossed for more restful nights!

To introduce subtle pops of color and artistic flair, I hung a selection of prints from Society6. These beautiful pieces, featuring desert flowers and succulents by an artist known as Nature Magick, are just incredibly sweet. They add a touch of natural beauty and vibrant life to the otherwise serene white walls. Oh, my gosh, they are perfect!

By the way, a little confession time: Do you notice anything amiss with our bi-fold closet door knobs in some of the photos? That was a total “blonde moment” / “preggo brain” incident when I was screwing them in! Quick tip: Knobs on bi-fold doors typically don’t open like that. 😉 Doy! Rest assured, that’s being fixed ASAP.

The Essential Glider: Comfort for Parent and Baby
With our second baby, we learned the hard way that investing in a quality glider is absolutely paramount. Those countless hours spent rocking, feeding, and cuddling demand a truly comfortable spot. We managed to find this wonderful glider at a very decent price, especially when compared to designer brands often costing upwards of $1,000. It’s incredibly plush and comfortable, making those middle-of-the-night feedings a little bit easier. If you’re also searching for stylish yet budget-friendly options, I’ve rounded up several other great nursery gliders in this dedicated post.

Next to the glider, I placed this charming garden stool, which serves as a perfect little accent table to keep essentials within easy reach while nursing. On top, I added this accent lamp for gentle, soft light during those inevitable late-night feedings. I also just installed this fantastic Hatch Sound Machine, which I am incredibly excited about. Sound machines are an absolute lifesaver for helping babies (and parents!) get some much-needed sleep.

Smart Storage Solutions: The IKEA Dresser Hack
For the first time in a long time, I actually decided against a thrift store dresser. Instead, I opted for the popular IKEA Hemnes dresser, which I then “jazzed up” using these beautiful appliques from MyOverlays. My main reason for choosing a new dresser was to avoid any lingering “funky thrifted smells” on delicate baby clothes, which can sometimes be an issue with vintage pieces. The beauty of IKEA furniture is the vast array of clever organization systems available for the drawers, which I’ll be sharing more about in a future post.
Important side note: Please, please, *please* anchor those dressers, everyone! Keeping our precious babies safe from tipping furniture is absolutely essential.

Beside the dresser, I placed a lidded hamper from HomeGoods to help manage the inevitable piles of dirty laundry from the changing station. I only just realized that the print on its metal design subtly matches the pattern on the crib sheet! Ha! That was totally unplanned – perhaps a subconscious design choice. Apparently, my brain coordinates things even when I’m not fully aware of it!

To keep changing essentials organized and within easy reach, I repurposed a tiered fruit basket I found in the kitchen section of HomeGoods. A quick spray of Rustoleum Champagne Mist transformed it to perfectly match the elegant light fixture. The two soap dispensers now hold lavender baby lotion and hand sanitizer, nestled alongside washcloths and a few teether toys to keep Regan happily occupied during changes.

In the same HomeGoods kitchen section, I discovered these three lidded glass and ceramic canisters. They’re perfect for neatly storing baby bows, pacifiers, and cotton swabs, keeping everything tidy and accessible while adding another layer of charming detail to the dresser top.

Reflective Surfaces and Practical Touches
To further amplify the light and create a sense of spaciousness, I hung this elegant round Target mirror. To balance its presence and tie it into the room’s floral theme, I added a smaller version of the felt flower swag directly above it. The interplay of the reflective surface and the delicate flowers adds a beautiful, soft dimension to the wall.

The subtle hints of gold scattered throughout the room – from the light fixture to the sprayed fruit basket – provide just enough warmth to complement the crisp white palette. They add a touch of sophisticated glamour without detracting from the overall serene atmosphere.

And for yet another crucial sleep aid – because I’m embracing every bit of help I can get – we installed these fantastic blackout Roman shades in the elegant Bonaire Flaxen color. While an investment, I am more than willing to pay extra if it means our little one will sleep more soundly, especially during daytime naps. These shades are incredibly effective at creating a dark, peaceful environment essential for baby sleep.

A Bittersweet Completion: Welcoming Baby Regan
I genuinely can’t believe this project is finally finished! It has taken considerably longer than I anticipated to deem this room truly complete. But in a way, I think part of me deliberately wanted to draw out the process, savoring every last bit of the sentimental journey. There’s a very strong possibility that Regan will be our last baby, which makes this nursery makeover feel incredibly bittersweet for me. It’s not just a room; it’s a tangible expression of love and preparation for a new chapter.

Now that our sweet baby girl has arrived, I am overjoyed to introduce her to all of you soon! For now, we are simply soaking up every precious moment and all the cuddles we can possibly get in this beautiful, peaceful space we created just for her.
